Description
Overview
The Ploum Large settee high back is the large high-back settee of the Ploum family that Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec designed for Ligne Roset. The page says the large settee is asymmetrical in construction, as per the designers' wishes, and that its seat may accommodate up to 4 persons, with a slightly closed angle that draws sitters closer together.
Construction
- Structure: steel tubing, wire and mesh; covered base
- Seat: integral high resilience polyurethane Bultex foam 48 kg/m³ (3.6 kPa)
- Back: integral Bultex foam 36 kg/m³ (1.4 kPa) with a comfort layer in hyperflexible polyurethane foam 30 kg/m³ (1.8 kPa)
- Cover: woven fabric quilted generously and by points of stitching, a double-layer quilted weave; it may be removed by an upholsterer
- Asymmetry: backrest higher on the right, seat deeper on the right, zip at the back off-centre
Specifications
- Dimensions: H 840 mm × W 2,500 mm × D 1,240 mm; seat height 390 mm; seats 3 places; weight 91.5 kg
- Coverings: 7 fabrics (Appa, Gentle, Milla, Moby, Sea, Uniform Melange, Warda)
- Items upholstered in Moby have no diagonal stitching in the four inside corners of the seat / back section and just one zip closure on the rear of the back
Story
Asymmetrical by design
The page says the large settee is built asymmetrically, as the designers wished: the backrest on the right is a little higher than on the left, the seat on the right slightly deeper, and the zip at the back of the backrest off-centre. The seat has a slightly closed angle.
Sheet and cover
The Ligne Roset product sheet gives 2,500 mm for the width and 91.5 kg for the weight, and lists 3 places, while the page text says the seat may accommodate up to 4 persons. Under making-up the sheet describes a woven cover with stitched quilting points that an upholsterer may take off.
