Overview
Pine Table Large Pine is a round table in solid pine with a characterful, sculptural design by Simon Legald for Normann Copenhagen. The wood is shown in its natural form, with the grain left visible.
Construction
The table is made of solid pine planks and is delivered assembled. A voluminous octangular foot carries a tabletop with a narrow, rounded edge frame, and the whole table carries a protective matte finish. It weighs 13 kg.
Specifications
Ø 65 x 65 x 44.6 cm (Pine Table Large Pine, 602547).
Story
Pine, an overlooked wood
Legald considers pine a forgotten wood variety in furniture design. He sees its fiery growth rings and characteristic aroma as Nordic soul and warmth, and he values using a material found locally in large quantities.
Weight and lightness
The voluminous octangular foot gives the table a weighty body, and the narrow, rounded edge frame of the tabletop opposes it gently. The result adds a visual lightness to the solid wooden design.
