Overview
Pilotis is a cylindrical table designed as a pure geometric solid by Rodolfo Dordoni for Minotti. It is made in two heights, 45 or 55 cm, in a polished 27 cm metal version and a 25 cm Wood version.
Construction
The metal structure is polished stainless steel or varnished polished metal, with a matt black varnished plate underneath and black protective felt glides. The Wood version has a curved plywood structure in ash veneer with open-pore Licorice lacquer and an internal plate counterweight.
Specifications
- Metal: D27 cm, H45 cm or H55 cm
- Wood: D25 cm, H45 cm or H55 cm
Story
A name from Rationalism
Minotti explains that the name Pilotis refers to one of the distinctive architectural elements of Rationalism, the slender columns on which the volume of Rationalist buildings would lie, balanced in the air.
Metal and a nuanced version
The metal table is available in polished stainless steel and in varnished polished metal, including four two-colour combinations that the maker calls the nuanced version. These are artisan crafted so that each piece is unique, and they are offered only in the 27 cm diameter, 55 cm high size.
