Description

Overview

Pigreco is an iconic seat by Tobia Scarpa, designed in 1959 as a degree project at the University of Venice. Its character comes from an essential line, a balance of solids and voids, and straight lines in harmony with curves, resolved down to the smallest detail.

Construction

The chair has a wooden frame under one-component polyurethane foam padding and a fabric or leather cover. Its visible structure is stained solid ash wood or Canaletto Walnut, and the rear legs join to steady the seat while keeping it light.

Specifications

Pigreco measures 55.1 x 40.5 x 64 cm (W x D x H).

Story

A degree project from 1959

Pigreco was designed in 1959 as a degree project at the University of Venice. It is the first product designed by the Maestro Tobia Scarpa, and Tacchini is privileged to include it among its re-editions.

A sense of space

Each feature answers one idea: giving a traditionally static object a sense of space. The triangle turns into a dynamic element, and the rear legs, which meet to keep the seat stable, leave its overall lightness intact.
