Mediterranean craft, modern restraint
Phoenix Sofa translates basket-weaving references into a clean outdoor profile. Molteni&C joins an exposed structural outline to handwoven polypropylene rope and water-repellent cushions.
Two fixed widths
The official sheet documents two-seat sofas at 150 and 180 cm. PDI18 carries principal drawing figures of 180, 79.5 and 70 cm. The unlabelled axes remain uncertain.
Exterior layers
Aluminium profiles, polypropylene-and-rubber seat straps, variable-density polyurethane and protected polyester fillings form the documented build-up.
Story
Material contrast
Vincent Van Duysen sets a defined frame against a closely woven surface. Molteni&C connects that handwork to Mediterranean basket traditions, using texture to soften the sofa's restrained geometry.
PDI18 proportion
The broader PDI18 still retains two seat cushions. Its drawing prints principal values of 180, 79.5 and 70 cm, with no word labels on the axes. It is the wider of the two fixed sofa formats.
