Overview
Phantom Lamp Large EU White pairs a semi-transparent resin shade with a steel frame. The shade is sprayed from thin threads of flame-retardant resin. The cord is white textile, 4 m long, and a white canopy is included.
Construction
A steel skeleton carries the shade, and the elastic resin is sprayed around it in closely spaced threads, as a silkworm forms its cocoon. Many layers of threads build up the full lampshade and give it a textured finish. The lamp comes assembled with a click cover for the bottom opening and weighs 4.8 kg. It takes an E27 socket and a dimmable light source can be dimmed.
Specifications
Ø81 x H64 cm (Phantom Lamp Large EU White, 605773). 220-240 V, 50/60 Hz, IP20, maximum load 40 W. Bulb not included.
Story
A shade made like a cocoon
The outlines of archetypical chandeliers served as inspiration for the silhouettes of the Phantom lamps, and the shapes are dramatic. In the ivory veil of the semi-transparent resin they take on a soft, iconic character.
Designed in 2018
Simon Legald designed Phantom in 2018. Tightly wrapped threads of resin make the outline stand out like a mysterious echo of the original shape, and the lamp gives an indirect, diffuse light with a warm, atmospheric feel.
