Description

Overview

Parka is a modular seating range by the duo Draga & Aurel for Poltrona Frau. The page describes soft profiles and generous volumes, upholstered all the way to the floor, with an oval backrest that morphs into an armrest and then a seat.

Construction

The sheet gives the backrest and seat structure as birch plywood and seasoned beech blocks, the armrest structure as birch plywood, the padding as cut polyurethane foam and the suspension as elastic straps. The feet are solid beech painted black. The stitching is tone-on-tone, and the Poltrona Frau logo is hot-stamped on the back of the backrest.

Story

A parka as a model

The page says the Parka range pays homage to a classic 1990s streetwear garment, typical of the US grunge culture and now a symbol of an entire generation. Like the garment, it calls Parka a passe-partout sofa that fits any style and is extremely versatile, despite having a strong personality.
