Description
Overview
Panton Wire is the wire shelf system that Montana says Verner Panton designed in 1971; Montana calls it "A timeless and adaptable system for many purposes" and says it has re-emerged as a design collectible with new elements and tops. Modules work alone or combined, standing on the floor, hanging on a wall, stacked, or placed as dividers between rooms.
Construction
Panton Wire is made of 5 mm wire, either in chrome or in the colours Snow, Black, Monarch, Pine, Black Red and Rosehip. It is supplied with feet and clips for combination, and 2 suspension rails. The top panels are 12 mm, in white or black marble or lacquered MDF, and come with transparent plastic shelf supports; the inlay shelves are clear glass or 12 mm lacquered MDF. Both come in sizes for the Single and the Extended module.

Story
Design and logic
Montana says Panton Wire is a typical example of Verner Panton's working method, where design and logic go hand in hand, and that Panton designed the module with the idea that the wire would catch the surrounding colour. The page describes the unit as raw yet elegant and light yet industrial, and says Less is never a bore.
Panton and Montana
Montana's page says that when Peter J. Lassen, the founder of Montana, first met the young Danish architect Verner Panton in 1956, it was the beginning of a close friendship and life-long collaboration, with a constant dialogue about design. For Panton's 100th birthday in 2026 Montana presents a limited anniversary edition of Panton Wire in Tangerine, available until June 2027.
