Description
Overview
The Pacific sofa is by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso and dates from 2021. The Pacific collection provides an intimate seating experience that is like being wrapped in a protective and relaxing cocoon, and its rounded, oversized shapes evoke the relaxed atmosphere of the American West Coast, from which the name comes. Hard edges are banned, and "couture" details enhance the soft shapes.
Construction
Polyurethane foam of differentiated densities, cold-injected polyurethane and polyester fibre cover the frame, which combines wood and steel. Seat cushions combine polyurethane foam with polyester fibre. The back is cold-injected foam on an internal steel frame, a padded plywood base holds the seat, and the glides are black polypropylene. Covers come off apart from the leather, velvet and vinyl versions. Unloaded seat height is 41 cm.

Story
A cocoon of rounded shapes
Designed by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso, the Pacific collection offers an intimate seating experience like being wrapped in a protective and relaxing cocoon. Its rounded, oversized shapes evoke the relaxed atmosphere of the American West Coast, which gives Pacific its name.
From Redondo to Pacific
Pacific continues a design process begun in 2010 with Urquiola's Redondo collection. Patrizia Moroso, the company's Art Director, explains: "With Pacific, we focus more on the shape, restoring generous, curved lines." In the sofa, hard edges are banned and the soft shapes are enhanced with "couture" details. The soft, woolly upholstery was chosen for an extraordinarily tactile experience, with a choice of bouclé, plush wool or velvet.
