A typology the designers admired

In Muuto's story "Archetypal Typology", Espen Voll recalls that the daybed was one of the things he and Torbjørn Anderssen looked towards as design students. He puts it down to the pared-down yet elegant presence it could take in a room, with a simple construction of four legs and a horizontal plane. Anderssen describes it as a reminder to take moments of rest during the day, almost like a flying carpet for the mind.

Soft seat, slender legs

Muuto calls the Outline Daybed the latest member of the Outline Sofa Family in that story. Voll says the design was created with understated yet characterful proportions, complemented by a soft seat and slender legs.
