Construction
The legs and the central crosspiece are made by hydroforming, with the crosspiece also coned, and painted; the top is supported by a frame of epoxy-painted metal. The top is a shaped fibreboard panel covered in wood veneer, or marble, over a lacquered anthracite fibreboard undertop.
Specifications
- 250 x 120 cm table: 250 cm wide, 120 cm deep, 74 cm high (page text)
Story
A top like a shell
The page says the underside of the top resembles a shell of soft lines, and the datasheet describes the lower body as shell-like with soft lines on a solid shiny base that joins the legs to the H-shaped structure. The top is narrowed at its ends.
Hydroformed frame
Molteni&C's page says the frame is made by hydroforming, a process in which water pressure shapes the material, so that the table is lightweight yet structurally rigid. The page calls the process common in the automotive industry; the datasheet calls it common in the furniture industry.
