Description

Overview

Oell is a 2022 side and coffee table by Jean-Marie Massaud, updated by Arper in 2024. Its round top extends from an offset column above a cylindrical base.

Construction

The base and asymmetrical column are powder-coated metal. Across the range, tops are offered in tempered glass, MDF and porcelain stoneware.

Specifications

  • Representative article: 7201 round side table
  • Top diameter: 45 cm
  • Porcelain-stoneware top thickness: 1 cm
  • Two heights and two top diameters across the family
  • Designed for disassembly

Story

A deliberately off-centre balance

Jean-Marie Massaud avoids the expected central pedestal by moving Oell's column away from the middle. The round top becomes a cantilever, while the low cylindrical base acts as its visual counterweight. This arrangement lets the surface reach across the edge of adjoining seating.

Variation within one silhouette

Arper keeps the base, column and circular top consistent while changing height, diameter and surface material. The company expanded the colour palette in the 2024 update and retained the possibility of separating the table into components at the end of use.

The gallery shows Oell beside lounge seating, isolates the taller proportion, and places two levels together in a residential setting (gallery:1; gallery:2).
