Overview
Nena is a 2020 armchair by Lanzavecchia + Wai. Zanotta builds its identity on the contrast between a minimal steel frame and the rounded volume of its upholstered seat and back.
Construction
The steel frame is varnished, while polyurethane pads both upholstered parts. Upholstery comes in fabric or leather and detaches for removal. A zip hidden under the backrest's ruche provides access.
Specifications
The official drawing prints 59, 56 and 74 cm without naming the axes. Another vertical guide gives 45 cm.
Story
Contrast as the central idea
Nena pairs slender legs and exposed supports with a generous seat and a backrest that curves around the sitter. Zanotta describes the result as both dynamic and recognisable.
A tailored removable cover
A ruche outlines the rounded back and hides the zip used to remove the cover. This detail lets fabric or leather follow the upholstered volumes while keeping the fastening out of view.
