Modernista Sofa

Overview

Designed in 2017 by Doshi & Levien, the Modernista sofa keeps to a strictly rectangular shape. That shape is used to explore delicate forms and exact proportions.

Construction

Seat and backrest are built on wood, then padded with differentiated-density polyurethane foam and polyester fiber. Cushions pair polyester fiber with a foam insert of polyurethane. The sofa stands on a base of powder-coated steel sheet that ends in PVC glides. Light padding is finished with buttons; the covers are fixed.

A strictly rectangular form

The rectangle is the working frame of Modernista, with delicate forms and exact proportions explored inside it. The sofa is built around that rectangle and its light padding.

Buttons refine the padding and recall dainty quilting, adding a delicate, elegant decorative effect. The collection has a classic feel and brings understated elegance to settings that need a light touch while keeping the beauty of exquisite details.
