Overview
The Mobidec Footstool by Pierre Charpin is a one-place upholstered footstool created for the MobiBoom exhibition. Its width is 370 mm and depth 380 mm; the page gives a 450 mm seat height for this item.
Construction
Three layers of criss-cross panels are clad in polyether foam. The base is 8 mm steel wire with satin black lacquer and polythene gliders.
Handling
An integral webbed strap matches the cover and serves as a handle; the cover is removable.
Story
Equestrian reference
Mobidec borrows its form from a truncated pommel horse or saddle. Its raised metal wire base recalls stirrups, while a matching strap encircles the upholstered seat for lifting.
Exhibition origin
Pierre Charpin designed the footstool for the MobiBoom exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, where it was held from 23 September 2010 to 2 January 2011.
