Overview
Milano is a bed designed by De Pas, D'Urbino and Lomazzi in 1983. Zanotta describes its geometry as rationalist and combines the slim frame with a height-adjustable system.
Construction
A steel frame supports bent-beech slats. Steel feet in natural or black nickel-satin finish provide three bed heights.
Upholstery and sizes
The cover is removable in fabric or leather, or fixed in cowhide; the cowhide version uses white stitching. The selected 160 x 200 cm mattress version is 163 x 208 cm. The largest vertical value is 83 cm, but it is not labelled on the drawing.
Story
Essential geometry with adjustment
Milano reduces the bed to a low upholstered perimeter, a single headboard plane and slender metal supports. Its functional distinction is the set of steel feet, which Zanotta uses to offer different heights without changing the basic frame.
Cover choices
The removable fabric and leather options allow the upholstered surfaces to be recovered. Cowhide is treated differently in the specification: it is non-removable and finished with contrasting white stitching. A version for a 210 cm long mattress is also available on request.
