Story
A counterpart to the Wassily
Knoll sets the MB Lounge against the Wassily Chair, one of Breuer's best-known Bauhaus designs. In contrast, the MB Lounge has a seemingly continuous, free-floating frame that, in Knoll's words, reflects tensile strength and straightforward elegance together. The cushion rests on horizontal metal springs, and Knoll says they give the back slight movement.

Breuer at the Bauhaus
Knoll's product sheet says Breuer used the technological advances of his day in the service of better living. He studied at the Bauhaus and later became a master carpenter there in the early 1920s, and his tubular steel furniture was inspired by bicycle construction.
