Story

Made for the Bauhaus cafeteria

Breuer designed the B 9 originally for the cafeteria of the Bauhaus building in Dessau, Thonet writes, and the small tables were used extensively in Walter Gropius's student apartments and the Masters' Houses.

From bentwood to tubular steel

The bentwood technique perfected by Michael Thonet was a source of inspiration for Breuer's experiments with bent tubular steel, and the nesting tables were developed from that idea.
