Description

Overview

Manarola Armchair is a Philippe Nigro design for Ligne Roset. The whole seat seems like a single large cushion placed on a light yet assertive base, and it has a very welcoming appearance.

Construction

A frame of steel tubing, wire and mesh is enveloped in foam. The upholstered seat rests on solid wood buttresses that support the back and make up the base. The seat and back use high resilience polyurethane Bultex foam with a comfort layer of ultra-flexible polyurethane foam, and the quilted cover can be removed by an upholsterer.

Specifications

Size: 920 x 1,020 x 820 mm (W x D x H). Seat height 370 mm; one seat place; weight 39.5 kg. 48 covering materials are offered.

Story

Reworking all-foam comfort

Philippe Nigro set himself the challenge of reinventing the extreme comfort of the Ligne Roset all-foam seating of the Seventies. With Manarola, Nigro designed a seat that reads as one large cushion, supported by a light but assertive base.

Slopes and softness

The new ultra-flexible polyurethane foams refine the welcoming feel and the softness that comes with use. The carefully judged slopes of the backward-slanting seat, the lumbar support and the headrest are emphasised by horizontal bands of stitching.
