Overview
Louisa is a Molteni&C group of round and oval coffee tables by Vincent Van Duysen. The page pairs wood and cement in a dialogue between material and form. The representative version is LTV3, which the drawing depicts as oval.
Construction
A conical central plinth raises the tabletop from the floor. The load-bearing core has a hollowed interior, while transversal elements can be arranged freely. Each tabletop carries a radial motif made through a slab-joining technique.
Specifications
- LTV3: drawing values 120, 80 and 30 cm
- The drawing does not label its axes.
- Other saved drawings identify round LTV2 and LTV1 versions.
Story
Material and form
Louisa explores the contrast between wood and cement. Van Duysen uses that pairing to give the table a sculptural presence, while the radial tabletop motif makes the joining of slabs part of the visual language.
A floating centre
The conical plinth is both the visual centre and the load-bearing core. Its hollowed interior is described as supporting a sense of weightlessness while retaining strength and stability. The table is available in round and oval versions.
