Description

Overview

Kube Sofa is a 3-seater by Simon Legald for Normann Copenhagen, a cubistic exposed frame softened by plush loose cushions on the seat, back and armrests. The manufacturer's fact sheet gives 2025 as the year of design.

Construction

The frame is made of FSC certified pine and pine from other controlled sources, UV lacquered and, depending on the finish, stained. The cushions combine 50% high-density foam and 50% feather filling under upholstery of textile or leather.

Specifications

220 x 98 x 77 cm; seat height 45 cm; 54 kg.

Story

Mid-century frames, reinterpreted

Simon Legald recalls that mid-century sofas often showed their wooden frames with cushions placed inside, until fully upholstered sofas became the norm. Kube brings the honest, visible construction of those sofas into the modern home, according to the designer, without compromising on comfort.

Where the planks meet

Normann Copenhagen draws attention to the thoughtful way the pine planks meet, which gives the frame a dynamic, almost sculptural quality. The thick planks are meant to show off the durability of the material, which will develop a natural patina over time.
