Description
Overview
Monica Förster designed the Kanji side tables for Tacchini. They link heavy elements with lighter ones, the way strokes of ink on a sheet build up a character, a letter or an ideogram.
Construction
Kanji has a marble top resting on a stained solid ash wood base. The marble comes in 2 finishes, as do the stained base and legs. Each table combines just these two materials.
Specifications
Marble top, 2 finishes (T160, T161); stained solid ash wood base and legs, 2 finishes (T134, T49).
Story
Calligraphy as a starting point
Monica Förster looked to calligraphy, the art of writing in an elegant and regular manner. Sharp contrasts in line and thickness turn the two tables into graphic, incisive expressions.
Marble and ash wood figures
Marble and ash wood give the tables their distinctive figures, each heavy element tied to a lighter one like the strokes that build a character.
