Overview
Jam Bookcase 6 poles is a bookcase in Oak/Grey, designed by Rudolph Schelling Webermann for Normann Copenhagen in 2018. It is composed of just three different elements and can be placed against a wall or used as a room divider.
Construction
The poles are solid oak, the shelves carry an oak veneer, and the wedges are polypropylene. A specially designed wedge uses friction, so the bookcase assembles without screws or tools. It is delivered flat-packed with grey wedges and an assembly manual.
Specifications
138 x 38 x 55 cm (Jam Bookcase 6 poles Oak/grey, 602504).
Story
The wedge as the starting point
The design team Rudolph Schelling Webermann was captivated by simple things that need only a minimum of elements to become very functional. The humble wedge, held in place by friction between inclined surfaces, led them to design a flat-pack bookcase that goes together without tools or screws.
A friendly expression
The shelves' softly rounded corners give the bookcase an inviting and friendly visual expression. With the oak poles set against colored polypropylene wedges, the design works in small apartments and in large offices.
