Description

Overview

Holborn is a 2015 dining table by Philipp Mainzer for e15. Square legs intersect its 50 mm top, creating a modern interpretation of the manufacturer's Bigfoot table.

Construction

A structure incorporated into the tabletop provides stability. Solid European oak or walnut forms the top and legs, with the end grain visible at their intersections.

Specifications

  • Representative size: 1400 × 920 × 750 mm
  • Dimension table: ten labelled lengths from 1400 to 3600 mm
  • Top thickness: 50 mm
  • Structure: no separate subframe

Story

A relation to Bigfoot

Holborn revisits the intersecting-leg idea associated with e15's Bigfoot table. Here the square legs pass through the 50 mm tabletop and expose end grain at the surface.

Extended length range

The official sheet's dimension table lists ten lengths while retaining a 920 mm width and 750 mm height, although its introductory paragraph says twelve. Walnut is limited to tables up to 3000 mm long.
