Story

For the Miller House

Herman Miller's page says Girard designed the table in the mid-1950s for the Miller House in Columbus, Indiana, which he and Eero Saarinen designed together through the 1950s, and describes it as a modern take on a blooming flower.

A brass original

In the heart of the house, the page says, stood the genre-defining conversation pit, a sunken lounge with built-in seating decorated with Girard textiles, and at its middle a classic Girard centerpiece: a brass, flower-shaped occasional table.
