Freeman Sofa

Overview

Freeman "Duvet" (Rodolfo Dordoni, Minotti 2016 Collection) is the soft half of the Freeman system. Minotti stresses an inviting warmth and softness: the seat cushions wrap a polyurethane core in Memory Foam and add a layer of down on top, and the whole structure sits in a heat-sealed fibre covering. Armrests and backs carry an elaborate stitching motif, and the headrest and lumbar cushion are optional extras.

Construction

• Structure: plywood sprung on rubber-rich elastic bands; seat structure in polyurethane foam of variable density with a concave contour for the seat cushion
• Casing: breathable quilted fibre, heat-bonded to a white hypoallergenic cotton lining; fabric pieces joined with a bronze eco-leather strip, double-stitched (same leather as the upholstery in leather versions)
• Cushions: channelled goose down, Assopiuma-certified (Gold Label), over a Memory Foam core insert in the back cushions; reversible seat cushions
• Base: extruded aluminium frame with cast aluminium joint fittings, glossy anti-fingerprint Bronze paint, bronze SEBS glides

A soft sofa

Minotti's text for Duvet reads as an invitation to settle in. The page names the softness of the padding, the pleasant warmth of the sofa and the stitching that shows the company's tailoring skills, and says the strip of bronze eco-leather between fabric parts gives the volumes a rhythm.

Support for reading

Duvet elements can be fitted with a headrest meant to support good posture while reading or relaxing, plus a lumbar cushion; the backrests are described as having comfortable lumbar cushions alongside pillow-soft back cushions.
