Description

Overview

Fishbone is a table by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso, from 2012, listed under Low tables. A decorative herringbone motif gives a contemporary interpretation of the traditional technique of inlaying, and it accentuates the finishes and the different colours.

Construction

The tops are hand-decorated in methacrylate, cut and arranged to the drawn patterns. The base is tubular steel with a matt powder coat finish, standing on black polypropylene glides. All three versions presented have super-glossy finishes.

Specifications

  • Top: hand-decorated methacrylate
  • Base: tubular steel, matt powder coat, black
  • Glides: black polypropylene
  • Versions: three colour combinations
  • Designer and year: Patricia Urquiola, 2012

Story

Herringbone motif

Fishbone applies a decorative herringbone motif that reinterprets the traditional technique of inlaying. The original combinations play on the apparently random juxtaposition of natural patterns in pastel shades, and also include masculine interpretations of fabrics such as tweed and solid colours.

Three versions

Super-glossy finishes match the designer's multifaceted creativity in all three of the versions presented. Each version is a different colour combination, and the pattern of the finished table can vary slightly within a version. Patricia Urquiola designed the table in 2012.
