Description

Overview

Filigree is a series of tables by Rodolfo Dordoni, headed 2013 on Molteni&C's datasheet, in fixed sizes and with an extendable version. The sheet describes a sinuous die-cast aluminium leg and thin tops, and says the extension runs on an invisible lateral telescopic system with the mechanism and extensions housed in 38 mm of interior thickness.

Rectangular table with a long thin top, chairs at its edge and a light fixture above, in front of a wall

Construction

The structure is extruded anodised aluminium, painted, with an internal metal frame; the extendable version runs on extruded aluminium tracks. The legs are die-cast aluminium, brushed, polished, chromed or painted, with an internal metal brace and a non-slip plastic foot.

Specifications

  • FTF18/10, fixed rectangular table: 180 cm wide, 98 cm deep, 74 cm on the vertical dimension line (not labelled on the drawing)

Story

A table that doubles its length

Molteni&C's page says the extension mechanism is integrated so that the top can double in size without visible seams. The sheet lists the aims of the telescopic system: a complete top without cross cuts, double-length extensions, the most usable top surface thanks to corner legs, and the thinnest possible tops.

Updated in 2025

The datasheet says that in 2025 Filigree, which it calls a Molteni&C classic and a best-selling product, gained an iridium brown structure finish, eucalyptus tops with inlay and tops in Ecotone, a mineral agglomerate.
