Edmond

Overview

Edmond is a modular seating system by Christophe Delcourt, produced by Molteni&C; its datasheet title block gives 2026. The page calls it a flexible structure defined by movement, variation and comfort, organised around elements that allow asymmetric compositions and changing depths.

Construction

The datasheet lists a seat structure of solid spruce (Picea abies), particle board and elastic straps, a plywood back structure, polyurethane foam padding, seat cushions with a shaped polyurethane insert and back cushions of polyester fibre, all with 100% cotton covers, and feet of painted steel with non-slip plastic ferrules.

Domestic architecture

The datasheet says Edmond originates as an exercise in domestic architecture in which comfort becomes a functional expression and stylistic vision stays in constant evolution. The backrest is shaped and the seat depth calibrated, suggesting different seating styles without imposing them.

A line drawn in pencil

The contrasting piping is described as a guiding thread, a line drawn in pencil that runs across the design and highlights supports, corners and connection points so that the construction and volumes read clearly. Christophe Delcourt, quoted on the page, says he designs sofas as interior landscapes, islands that inhabit space without dominating it.
