Overview

Christophe Delcourt designed Armand (2026) for Molteni&C. The page describes it as a precise balance between fine upholstery, a solid structure and expert craftsmanship, centred on a thin metal shell that wraps the backrest and reaches round the whole chair.

Construction

The shell is covered in leather and folds gently at the top to form the armrests; it incorporates and conceals the rear legs. The legs are shaped as half-cylinders, and the datasheet lists the feet as stained solid ash.

Leather, wood and padding

The datasheet describes Armand as leatherwork, fine woodworking and sculpted polyurethane padding brought together; the leather backrest wraps round into the arms and rests on solid wood legs, and the datasheet calls the armchair elegant, well proportioned and sculptural.

An expressive structural detail

According to the page, the legs introduce a strong architectural detail at the point where the chair meets the floor, and their geometry adds rhythm and stability to the composition. The datasheet adds that with Armand, Christophe Delcourt signs an armchair that reveals absolute technical mastery, every constructive detail contributing to a coherent vision.
