Description

Overview

Eddy Table Lamp EU Black is a table lamp by Simon Legald for Normann Copenhagen, in which an airy steel shade floats above a weighty, organic base of marble. It weighs 7.8 kg.

Construction

The shade is a steel screen with an integrated LED light source, and the base is hand-turned Italian marble. Shade and base meet in a rotation point, a glossy brass ball around which the shade can be tipped to control the direction of the light. A circular brass dimmer sits on top of the lampshade, and the textile cord ends in a brass ring.

Specifications

Ø32 cm (Eddy Table Lamp EU Black, 502174). LED of 16.5 W, IP20, class III.

Story

An art of proportion

Eddy is a table lamp built on proportion, an airy shade that floats above a weighty, organic base. Simon Legald designed it in 2018, and the result is a design in balance and motion. Steel and marble are the main elements, while golden shimmers of brass put the dot on the i.

Slim neck, bulky body

The base is hand-turned Italian marble, and the turning is emphasised by the proportion between a slim neck and a bulky body. The silhouette that results is lively and dense at once. A glossy brass ball marks the point where shade and base meet, and the shade tips around it.
