Description
Overview
The 2160R D'Urso Residential Lounge Chair condenses the residential seating concept into a single-seat form. Joseph D'Urso developed it for Knoll in 2008.
Cushion build
Resilient foam and polyester layers form the seat. A softer foam core with fibre fill shapes the back cushion. The plywood body combines sinuous seat springs with matrix support behind the back.
Specifications
- W 34 x D 36.5 x H 28.5 in
- Seat height 15.375 in; arm height 20.625 in
- Steel or turned-oak legs
Story
A single-seat residential model
D'Urso's 2008 return to Knoll produced both a sofa and this lounge chair. The chair retains the deep seat and low surrounding shell while reducing the composition to one generous place.
Contrast within the form
The outer upholstered panels read as a controlled enclosure. Inside, the projecting seat and separate back cushion establish the softer seating zone.
