Story
For the Domus Academica
The product page says Tapiovaara and his wife Annikki won the commission in 1946 for the interior of the Domus Academica student housing complex in Helsinki, and that he created the lounge chair as part of a series of furniture for the students.
Beyond the building
Artek writes that the chair's popularity has extended far beyond the location it was first intended for; a caption shows it at a Starbucks in Helsinki, Finland.
