Overview
Delta Proust Side Table Multi is a side table by Alessandro Mendini for Normann Copenhagen. It is covered in the Proust pattern, a mosaic of seven colors and two shades of white, and made from recycled pigmented polyethylene.
Construction
The body is recycled polyethylene (PE) made from rotation molded PE chips, with pigment mixed into the material. The table is durable and weather-resistant and designed for indoor and outdoor use. It weighs 5 kg.
Specifications
41 x 36 x 51.5 cm (Delta Proust Side Table Multi, 610029).
Story
The Proust pattern as an object
The Proust pattern first appeared on Mendini's Poltrona di Proust. On this side table it becomes a pixelated mosaic of seven colors and two shades of white, developed with Elisa and Fulvia Mendini of the Alessandro Mendini Archive.
Made from packaging waste
The table is made from recycled pigmented polyethylene taken from industrial packaging waste. Every piece has its own distribution of pigments, so no two tables look alike.
