Description

Overview

Daniels is a modular system by Christophe Delcourt from Minotti's 2019 Collection. Minotti likens it to a landscape plan: regular curves and ellipses break the straightness of a layout. Seats are single-cushion and conceived around full modularity and maximum comfort. Instead of a fixed armrest, the system offers a wheeled ottoman in leather or fabric that clips on with magnets or stands alone.

Construction

  • Structure: plywood; the seat structure is coated in variable-density, high-resilience polyurethane foam hollowed to take the reversible cushion; backrests and armrests in plywood of several thicknesses with the same foam coating
  • Cushions: fully reversible seat and backrest cushions, Assopiuma-certified channelled goose down over a polyurethane core
  • Feet: cast aluminium in polished Pewter with an anti-fingerprint finish; armrests on a metal perimeter base in the same colour; nylon slides

Specifications

  • Daniels sofa cm 228: W 228 x D 105 x H 80 cm
  • Further sofas: 248, 268 and 310 cm
  • Upholstery A: all fabric or all leather; B and C: leather backrest structure and base (Cat. Extra or Cat. Natural) with fabric armrests, back cushions and seat

Story

Two depths, overlapping backs

The page explains that the frame of the back combines two depths so that the backrests seem to overlap. This creates movement behind the sofa and avoids the look of a continuous screen when the sofa stands mid-room; it also leaves room for the Clive console. In the "offset" version the backrest juts out beside the seat, which fits an Amber ottoman or low unit.

The designer's second Minotti system

Christophe Delcourt began working with Minotti in 2016. According to Minotti's designer page he created Daniels and the Amber low units in 2019. Minotti calls Daniels most striking with Amber, the harder containers contrasting with the soft seats.
