Story
From a rocking stool
Noguchi recalls that in 1954 he did a rocking stool that Hans Knoll liked, and that Knoll wanted it in wire, like Bertoia's. Knoll then asked him to adapt it to a table; the dining table followed in 1957.

Out of production and back
Knoll sold the Cyclone alongside the Bertoia wire chairs for several years, took it out of production in 1974 and reintroduced it in 2003, working from Noguchi's original drawings together with the Noguchi Foundation.
