Connery Sofa

Overview

Connery by Rodolfo Dordoni is part of Minotti's 2020 Collection. The sofa documented here is the 214 cm version with an 83 cm seating module: one soft seat cushion with light stitching along the seat, and a backrest and armrest cast as one volume that is split at 45° in the corner.

Construction

• Structure: plywood of various thicknesses coated in variable-density, high-resilience polyurethane foam; backs and arms then wrapped in channelled goose down quilting (Assopiuma Gold Label)
• Base: upholstered in fabric, or optionally sheathed in Aspen leather strips
• Flap: table surfaces of bent 8 mm aluminium sheet, upholstered in leather or covered in Moka-lacquered ash veneer
• Feet: blades of extruded brushed aluminium in a hand-finished, polished Brandy varnish

The seat cushion

The seat cushion text speaks of a subtle quilted pattern with double embroidery that picks out the linear, soft shape of the seat. Backrest and armrest are built from plywood, coated in polyurethane foam and then wrapped in down.

The Flap detail

Connery includes pieces with Flap table surfaces of low visual impact, which Minotti says give the compositions a lively rhythm. A Connery tray is the optional companion for the leather Flaps.
