Overview
Canvas Office Landscape is Herman Miller's workstation platform, described by the company as its largest, most flexible and most adaptable office workstation system and built as a kit of parts.
Construction
The platform is made of the Canvas family: Vista, Private Office, Wall, Dock, Channel, Metal Desk and Storage. The brochure details include architectural trim, a power access credenza, Pari screens, a Team Bridge surface, a glass screen and height adjustable leg integration.
Specifications
Designed by Douglas Ball, Joey Ruiter, Jeffrey Bernett and Nicholas Dodziuk; introduced by Herman Miller in 2011. Sizes are published per family product, not for the platform as a whole.
Story
From Action Office to a kit of parts
Herman Miller's brochure traces Canvas Office Landscape to the decades after the Action Office System, when its research into the changing nature of work kept evolving and customers needed furniture systems that outfit the entire office, from private offices to group space to open layouts.
Four designers
The design draws on existing systems by Doug Ball and Joey Ruiter and on new designs from Jeffrey Bernett and Nicholas Dodziuk of the New York firm Consultants for Design Strategy. Herman Miller's timeline records the introduction of Canvas Office Landscape in 2011.
