Description
Overview
Mauro Lipparini's Canaletto K 8 is a tall two-door display cabinet with a glazed upper body raised on a slender steel base. Ridged glass across the front and sides partially veils the objects stored inside.
Glass, shelves and lighting
The doors use smoked brushed anodised-aluminium frames, with the glass held flush by concealed bonding beneath a bronze martingale. Four slim metal shelves attach at the rear. Four horizontal illuminated strips are integrated into the back panels, with smoked diffusers and optional dimming by remote control.
Base and dimensions
Steel roundels form the 500 mm-high base, finished in bronze lacquer to coordinate with the door frames. Height-adjustable jacks provide levelling. Overall dimensions are 1,000 x 305 x 1,550 mm (W x D x H), and weight is 77 kg.
Story
Solid and transparent geometry
Canaletto sets a rectilinear glazed body above an open metal support. The ridged glass creates alternating peaks and troughs, softening the outlines of displayed objects and changing their appearance as light moves across the doors and sides.
Illuminated back panels
Horizontal light strips run through four rear panels. Their smoked diffusers remain visually restrained when unlit, while the choice of lacquer or dark walnut behind the shelves changes the colour and depth of the illuminated interior.
