Description

Overview

This special edition of Mario Bellini's Camaleonda sofa system is upholstered in a new fabric that Stella McCartney designed, bearing her S-Wave monogram. B&B Italia calls it the second chapter of the partnership between the British brand and the Italian design house, and the product sheet gives the year 2023.

Construction

Listed on the sheet: a base-frame in MDF NAF wood fibre; shaped polyurethane of different density in the seat; shaped polyurethane plus polyurethane foam in the back; polyurethane foam in the armrests. The covers use either polyethylene terephthalate or a polyethylene-and-nylon material, and the seat has studs of nylon. Brass rings, a stainless steel carabiner, a polypropylene cord and solid wood feet complete the list. The cover is "fabric Stella McCartney with metal studs".

Specifications

Element CM96CM: 96 cm wide, 96 cm deep, overall height 70 cm (67 cm in the front view), seat height 40 cm. Feet are 5 cm (2") or 8 cm (3 1/8") high. A 96 cm dimension is also shown beside the side view; the depth is therefore uncertain.

Story

Camaleonda in a new dress

The sofa is offered as a special edition of Mario Bellini's Camaleonda system, wearing a brand new fabric by Stella McCartney. On the page it is the second chapter of the collaboration between the British conscious luxury pioneer and the Italian design house.

The S-Wave monogram

The page traces the S-Wave monogram to DNA strings, soundwaves, sacred geometries and the idea of living in harmony with nature, and notes that it recurs across the ready-to-wear and accessories collections of Stella McCartney. This Camaleonda is said to be crafted from nearly entirely sustainable materials.
