Overview
Cabana is a cabinet by Fernando e Humberto Campana for Edra. Its central bearing structure conceals five circular shelves of decreasing diameter. The shelves are concealed beneath the outer layer rather than exposed as a conventional cabinet interior.
Construction
Long strands of raffia viscose fibre form the hut-like outer layer. They are hand knotted to fall from the top to the ground, and the cabinet opens from every direction to give access to the concealed shelves. Edra gives their combined capacity as twelve linear metres.
Story
Concealed shelving
Cabana pairs a central bearing structure with five circular shelves whose diameters decrease through the cabinet. The product page names the Campana brothers. Long strands of raffia viscose fibre are hand knotted from the top to the ground, concealing the shelves beneath a hut-like form. The cabinet opens from every direction, and Edra describes the available shelves as equivalent to twelve linear metres.
