Description

Overview

The Bitta club armchair (reference KS7000300) is part of Kettal's Bitta outdoor collection by Rodolfo Dordoni. Kettal says it translates the collection's defining weave into a deeper, more relaxed dimension: its wide proportions and precise structure provide an enveloping comfort for lounging outdoors.

Construction

The sheet describes aluminium frames, seats of braided polyester and comfortable cushions; the page names the weave Bela rope, says it provides structure and warmth, and that each strand is handwoven. Frame finishes come from Terrain Paints or Terrain Lustre, and Kettal publishes one spec sheet for the version with aluminium legs and another for teak legs.

Specifications

  • Dimensions: W 103 × D 89 × H 82 cm (40.5 × 35 × 32.2 in); the drawing carries no labels, so further values on it are not named
  • Frame: aluminium, Terrain Paints / Terrain Lustre finishes
  • Weave: Bela rope (braided polyester)
  • Use: page says built for continuous outdoor exposure

Story

Mooring ropes as a model

The spec sheet quotes Rodolfo Dordoni on the collection: he wanted a dense braiding that would still let the air through, reminiscent of the ropes used to moor boats, hence the name Bitta, which means 'mooring' in Italian. Kettal's collection page describes the texture of maritime mooring lines as the inspiration.

Cosy nests

In his words the braiding makes the pieces look lightweight but, at the same time, like cosy nests in natural colours to sit back and relax in. Kettal describes the collection as balancing density and transparency, combining aluminium frames, braided polyester rope and deep cushions with curved frames.
