Description

Overview

Rodolfo Dordoni designed the Benson coffee table for Minotti. Overlapping shapes and a combination of luxury materials are its distinctive traits, and its sculpted form is enhanced by the substance of wood and the shine of metal.

Construction

The structure is curved honeycomb plywood with upper and lower tops in MDF. The lower top has a metal sheet border on its edge, and the table has protective felt glides. The lower elliptical base is either composite ebony veneer, glossy transparent polyester finish, or glossy Moka lacquer; the upper circular top is metal, in satin-finish Bronze paint or in bright Gold-plated electroplate.

Story

Overlapping shapes in wood and metal

Benson combines an elliptical base with a raised circular top, and the two shapes overlap. Rodolfo Dordoni designed the piece for Minotti. The sculpted form is enhanced by the substance of wood and the shine of metal.

Two finish pairings

One pairing sets a base in composite ebony veneer, glossy transparent polyester finish, under a satin-finish metal top painted Bronze. The other sets a glossy Moka lacquer base under a metal top with a bright Gold-plated finish.
