Basello 638
Basello is a double-height small table with rotating shelves, designed by Achille Castiglioni in 1987. Its frame is made from medium-density fibreboard with a scratch-resistant embossed paint finish. Zanotta lists five frame colours and two coordinated choices for the joint.
Articulated form
A painted steel articulated joint connects the two levels. The official drawing prints 65, 60, 30 and 45 cm without axis labels. The largest open footprint is recorded as 65 by 30 cm, with 45 cm as the vertical value.
Story
Castiglioni's 1987 table
Zanotta credits Basello model 638 to Achille Castiglioni and dates it to 1987. The product is defined by two table levels that rotate around a steel articulated joint.
Finish coordination
The joint finish follows the frame version specified by Zanotta: black for the hemp, amaranth, espresso and black models, or talc for the talc model. This coordination uses two stated joint colours across the five named frame shades.
