Baltimora

Overview

Baltimora is a double-sided island unit by Matteo Nunziati for Molteni&C, made to stand in the centre of a bedroom or dressing area. The datasheet offers it in two sizes, with either a transparent glass top or an Eco Skin top.

Construction

Per the datasheet, the structure is chipboard covered in eucalyptus and oak veneer on the side, back and front panels. The glass top has a painted extruded aluminium frame with tempered extra-clear glass, and the Eco Skin top has the same frame with a chipboard panel covered in Eco Skin. The seat is polyurethane foam of variable density with a bonded velveteen cover.

A double-sided island for the dressing area

The page presents Baltimora as a double-sided island unit designed for the centre of a room, which can stand alone or enter into a dialogue with existing wardrobes or cabinets. The 2023 datasheet calls it a double face island unit and display case that can form a single unit with existing walk-in closets and wardrobes.

Storage and a place to sit

According to the page, the island has a dual purpose: it stores objects, and thanks to the bench and its soft cushions it forms a seating area. The cushions can be covered in any Molteni&C fabric or leather, and two drawers beneath the bench add further storage.
