Description

Overview

Astrée Floor standard lamp comes from Benjamin Graindorge for Ligne Roset. A round shade in mouth-blown opal glass, Ø 25 cm, houses the LED bulb and sits at the top of a stem made of 16 mm bent steel tubing.

Construction

The base is round and 25 mm thick, in Carrara marble (Ø 40 cm) or in merrazzo (Ø 38 cm). The stem is finished in epoxy satin white lacquer RAL 9016 with the marble base and in epoxy satin black lacquer RAL 9005 with the merrazzo base. The PVC cable carries a foot-operated switch.

Lighting and size

A 13 W LED bulb gives 1,140 lumens at 3,000 K (warm white). Height 1,750 mm, length 510 mm.

Story

A globe that floats

Graindorge sees in this lamp something of the archetypal luminous object. Like the Little Prince contemplating the stars, he speaks of his pristine globe: he wanted it to float.

A strap in a figure of eight

The opal glass globe is delicately suspended, defying gravity, by a strap in the shape of the figure 8, which in itself evokes the infinity symbol. Beneath it the stem is bent steel tubing, standing on a base in Carrara marble or merrazzo.
