Description

Overview

Aom is a 2026 seating family by Jean-Marie Massaud, available in one-, two- and three-seat versions. Arper describes the collection through subtraction: fewer components, less weight and a direct construction intended for indoor and outdoor settings.

Construction

A lightweight expanded polypropylene structure interlocks with recyclable Breathair® elastomeric-polyester padding. Mechanical assembly removes glue and staples; the upholstery is removable, and the components can be separated.

Representative dimensions

The official drawing for one-seat article #7900 prints 110.5, 103 and 67.5–70 cm. Axis names are absent from the drawing.

Story

Subtraction as responsibility

Massaud and Arper treat subtraction as both a formal and material principle. The collection removes unnecessary parts and replaces polyurethane padding with a two-element system that interlocks, reducing assembly complexity.

Indoor and outdoor continuity

The perforated structure provides drainage, while Breathair® supplies breathability, elasticity and water resistance. Arper says the same construction lets Aom move between interior and exterior settings without changing its design language. At end of life, the product can reach approximately 80% recyclability.
