Description
Overview
Ad-astra is a lamp designed by Marco Lavit in 2024: a luminous sphere on a thin stem that conveys extreme lightness, so that the lamp can be contemplated as an ephemeral celestial phenomenon. It is a collection of indoor diffused-light lamps in a floor version and two pendant versions.
Construction
The supporting frame is tubular Ø13 mm brass, with machined turned details made from brass rods in different sections. The finish is polished brass obtained by electroplating, under a transparent protective coating. All versions carry a Ø30 cm opaline diffuser of blown borosilicate glass, securely fitted onto the lamp body, and the LED light is powered at 24V with a colour temperature of 3000K. The pendant versions have a steel sheet canopy finished to match the lamp, to which a steel cable is attached.
Specifications
Diffuser: Ø30 cm (pendant version).
Story
A sphere on a thin stem
Marco Lavit designed Ad-astra in 2024 around one idea: a luminous sphere carried on a thin stem to convey extreme lightness. The lamp is meant to be contemplated as an ephemeral celestial phenomenon.
Brass frame, glass sphere
The frame is tubular brass of Ø13 mm with machined turned details cut from brass rods in different sections, polished and electroplated under a transparent protective coating. A Ø30 cm opaline diffuser in blown borosilicate glass is securely fitted onto the lamp body, and the 24V LED source has a colour temperature of 3000K.
