Uwe Fischer

Background

Uwe Fischer studied industrial design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach. B&B Italia says he founded Ginbande Design in 1985, developed experimental projects and numerous products in the following years, and opened his own office in Frankfurt am Main in 1993. Stylepark lists him as Prof. Uwe Fischer, based in Frankfurt am Main.

Signature Style

B&B Italia says the projects of his office rest on interest in, and curiosity about, problematic issues in architecture and design, and on dialogue with all partners involved. It adds that the office sees itself not only as a service provider but as an experimental workshop.

Notable Works

His products for B&B Italia include the Sina tables and the Sina side table; the tables can be matched with Sina and Iuta chairs. COR credits him with Roc, Level and Level System, and Stylepark lists Annex and Jones for serien.lighting. COR also names information carriers for the passenger guidance system at Frankfurt Airport, framework planning for Messe Frankfurt and an information system for Ciba in Basel.

Legacy

Fischer has held a chair at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and, since 2001, the chair for Industrial Design at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. COR lists exhibition designs for the German Architecture Museum, the German Design Council, the German Postal Museum and the MAK in Frankfurt.
