Biography

Background

TAF Studio is a Stockholm-based architecture and design practice founded in 2002 by Gabriella Lenke and Mattias Ståhlbom after they graduated from Konstfack's Department of Interior Architecture and Furniture Design. The studio works internationally for private clients, institutions and companies.

Design Approach

TAF examines familiar surroundings and utility objects, then refines their forms through exposed construction, materials, colour, context and scale. Its official profile connects deep material knowledge with both craft and industrial processes, and treats quality in every detail as a route to longevity.

Selected Work

The practice spans furniture, lighting, exhibition design and interior architecture. Projects include work for Stockholm's Nationalmuseum and the Institut suédois in Paris, alongside collaborations with Fogia, Muuto, Artek and String. For Artek, TAF designed the Atelier Chair, originally commissioned for the Nationalmuseum restaurant.

Recognition

TAF is represented at Nationalmuseum in Stockholm and Designmuseum Danmark in Copenhagen. The studio received the Bruno Mathsson Award in 2017.
